#NewRelease The Awakening by JP Adkins Blog Tour: #Excerpt

Blurb:

What would you do if you found out you were genetically a Vampire? Would you embrace it or run? I have found that power is a strange thing - sometimes it pulls you into places you never knew you would go. I have done things that most have only dreamed of; ran through walls, jumped off buildings but it all seems like folly.

I am what happens when genetics mutate, when the species collide, when the beauty can’t resist the beast. I can’t infect with my kiss, but I can awaken with my seed but only if they are a mutation such as I.

Warning:

This book contains material that is only suitable for mature readers. It contains scenes of a sexual nature between two or more consenting men, drugs, and violence. The supernatural beings in this book do not have to worry about STDs but you do. Please do not attempt anything in this book at home.

Excerpt:

So let me catch you up to speed. I found out recently that somewhere in my crazy family tree there was a vampire after having some mind blowing sex with another vampire, and having my vampiric tendencies were awakened. We met, we woo'd and then he disappeared leaving me  longing. I just moved in with two lesbian vampires (lovingly known as the girls) in one of two magnet houses for supernaturals in the area.
Jade is a werewolf that DJs at the local bar that we hang out in. We have hooked up, but I am still hung up on my, for lack of a better word, “maker”. He lives with (the boys) in the other magnet house for supernaturals in the area.
So now that you are all up to speed, let me tell you about one of the hottest nights in my life.
Another hit and it was gone, and I was still craving. “Damn! Are you ok?” asked Jade, still panting.
“More!” I said, still panting.
“Have any money?”
“No, payday is Monday.”
“That was my last twenty.”
“Damn!”
“I know how we can get more,” he said, the look in his brilliant green eyes telling me what he thought.
“I can't do that, it's wrong.” I whispered, still not trusting my voice.
“There are two kinds of people, Eric, the hunters and the prey. Which are you?” he said with a menacing growl that sent shivers down my back as he grabbed a pair of pants and a shirt off my floor, leaving me to scrambling to catch up.
The next thing I knew, we had ran clear through Dearborn to just past where Ford Road turns to McGraw each of our natures allowing us to do so without breaking a sweat. I could feel the fear that radiated out of the houses as I followed Jade, criss-crossing through the neighborhood till he found what he was looking for, a lone man standing on a corner. I could smell his blood, heavy with alcohol as his tweaked out heart sped to deliver the chemicals to each cell in his body. I wanted it, I wanted to taste his blood, to feel those drugs course through me. Jade went up to the guy and talked quietly. Suddenly, they were next to me and Jade said, “He can get us what you were looking for. Why don't you show him his payment.” I took one last look into Jade's eyes before I reached behind me as if to grab my wallet, bringing my fist back to his stomach so fast he didn't even have time to brace for it. The punch had enough force behind it to send the dealer reeling backwards into the grass. I jumped on top of him and went for his neck as the poor man landed blow after blow all over my body the weight of my body making his screams barely audible.
I felt my teeth pierce the delicate skin and then tasted the rich flow of sweet blood. I was in heaven as I felt his life force reach my cells. Was I ever alive before this? Suddenly I felt someone lift me off of the now dead dealer. I had forgotten that Jade was there, or even where we were but now all I could think about was getting out of here before we were caught.
“Wait,” Jade said and I finally realized that he was half in wolf form. He leaned over the guy, simultaneously rummaging through the guys pockets and ripping half of his throat out.
He looked back at me, his eyes wild and said, “A little dry, but we can't have any human teeth marks can we?” It was like he was shouting, although I could tell that it was just a whisper. My senses were so overly stimulated my body vibrated with the power. I didn't even know what I was doing before I was done, but I stripped the dead dealer and stuffed his boxers into my pocket.
I looked at Jade and said, “a little memento,” as I turned and started running, Jade lagging behind for a change.
